Pathways to the Spirit

With all that is going on around us – the world is waking up a little bit more each day – it is often difficult to remain focused on our common goals. I wanted to comment on these times as I have been both living this, working to change things and observing things as they come about for a very long time.

Right now there are a good many people letting out a collective ‘sigh’ as it seems the earth is beginning her stretching, yawning and waking from her enforced slumber. The divine feminine being of our planet has been raising her consciousness and along with it, pulling up those of us who have willing spirits. 

So, if all around you appears to be turbulent, troublesome and as if you are being asked constantly to let go of ever more and more…..do not despair. You are being asked to let go and to make a choice.

There are many roads to the beyond, for higher knowledge and a bright future – but not all lead inwards towards your core. In order to awaken and then remain committed to the goal – each cell in our bodies must ignite. 

This time around – raising vibrational consciousness is a physical process. Of course, there is nothing more dense and toxic right now then our physical bodies. Challenging, but not impossible! 

In my own life I keep coming back to words and phrases to help myself stay the course and not give in to any negativity. I remind myself constantly that there really is nothing to be afraid of…..wonderful things are happening all over, that people are starting to change.

But, more than that, I am always looking for ‘signs’. Those phrases, words, symbols, numbers, chance meetings, coincidences and synchronicities all add up to a path well sign-posted for those who are paying attention. 

Some days it’s a single word written on a city bus noticed as it whizzes by ---- Believe. Or other times it’s a brief discussion with mothers waiting for after school activities & picking up children – nourishing the spirit. 

We have come this way before. There is a clear pathway that leads us home – when we watch the sky, touch the earth and listen to life all around us, we can hear our ancient selves beaconing.......

Summer Solstice - Mid Summer Celebration & Altar

The summer Solstice is nearly upon us - Saturday 21st June is the longest day of the year and considered to be Mid Summer (already!). It is also a solar celebration and what better way to celebrate then with beautiful blossoms of one of the most sacred trees in Ireland. 

The Elder tree, is in bloom late in May and early June with a profusion of white flowers which grow in clusters. It has long been used for its’ many known healing and medicinal properties (pain, inflammation, the bark is a mild laxative) as well as the delicious drinks made from a rapid fermenting process. 

Elder naturally contains many wild yeasts and can be fermented with little trouble in a few days into refreshing drinks that smell and taste distinctly like summer! I never add commercial yeast to anything and always get the most amazing tasting champagnes....

Elder flowers are also powerful immune boosters (berries and leaves are very high in Vitamin C as well) for both humans and animals with many people making and drinking Elder Cordials or a little stronger fizzy drink known as Elder Champagne (it will achieve about 2 to 3% alc.) in the early summer time. 

In the meantime, branches of the tree have been used as protective amulets and to make fairie wands. Altars usually have a piece of some of these sacred trees included especially at the summer solstice. The magical properties brought by this tree are thought to be prosperity, breaking spells, healing and protection. 

And so it goes!

If you are planning some kind of a Summer Solstice celebration (Litha) why not bring in Elder - flowers, leaves or a gift of a fallen branch from a tree - you can make this a central theme of your altar or just place on a table large enough to welcome the sun. 

And don't forget to make your Elder Cordial or buy some at the market in Skibbereen.

Spiritual Path - The Magic is Alive

In some ways I feel as ancient as the rocks and in others like an infant just taking my first steps. That is how it feels each and every day that my feet touch the ground (running, I might as well add) since I made the conscious decision years ago to really walk this path.

Even though I am an Intuitive (thank you god/goddess for that blessing) and I am aware of and in tune with quite a lot of what is taking place around me, in me and resulting from my decisions….

It is not ever easy to hand over your life completely to your own inner guidance system and then trust that voice. You have to trust that the voice you feel, hear and sense are indeed your own. And if they are your own, then to get to know them and what would be asked or expected of you.

There is little else that a person can really be asked to do about their spiritual pursuits otherwise – you cannot push the path that shifts before and under your feet. You can only wait while it is revealed in front of you, however, the path is not always illuminated, often it is dark.

What you will ultimately find is yourself, this is not a quest to search for the pieces of your soul, or the broken bits of your life….the path IS your soul, it becomes your life and what is broken will surely heal as you move further along the road in front of you.

Or as we like to joke at home….we go ‘further up and further in’.

But for the rest of this stuff and anything that may be asked of you --- it is not complicated, complications are from an ‘overmind’ and are an indication of interference energy (something that should not be there, like a resistance in your way).

Walking, talking and living the spiritual path should be and is simple. You are learning how to simplify, fix, heal and change your life from the inside out. That is why food, water and keeping a clean body are vital. In this way – it’s a sort of magical (alchemical) Universal process.

Only you do the work, be true to yourself and just like magic – one day, that work pays off.
